Challenge review & other things

SO today is the last day of my “No white foods” challenge.
Overall, the week went really well! I did have a lapse on wednesday after riding trials (long story short, it was hinted heavily that i was a walk-on for the team, then i didn’t make it =/ ) so i had some chocolate and a cuddle with my boy to make me feel better. Happy to say that besides that i’ve done very well on all fronts! No white grains/bread, no potato, little to no refined sugars :)
One thing i realised which is packed with sugar is soy sauce. I neary used it in my scrambled tofu earlier this week but sugar is like the third ingredient or something! I read in this book that i have (Skinny Bitch Book of Swaps- excellent resource but aimed at american brands/stores. still useful info) that  this is sort of a westernised thing, and if you find proper asian shops the soy sauce is better. So i may have a check around the indian grocers nearby and check out their soy sauce!
Since i didn’t stick to it as well as i should have i’m going to keep incorporating “No White” as a general rule when i go food shopping. That said it’s Luke’s birthday on wednesday so i’m bound to have a bit of sugar then, but i’m keeping the cake small and single-serving for both of us so we dont feel nasty after :P

This weeks challenge: No convenience foods!
This mostly means no pre-packed “bars” or fake meat (perhaps with a tofu exception, because it’s far from convenient, but we’ll see)
i may have a tad tomorrow evening as i was invited to a vegan cheese taste test, but i promise i’ll keep it minimal :P
The main aim here is to get me to change my habits when i’m on the go- e.g. running into sainsbury’s and grabbing a nakd/granola bar instead of a piece of fruit or veg
As always, feel free to join me and inbox me any feedback! :)

So as you all have noticed, my weight has steadily gone down this week and I am more than thrilled :) Especially because I’m not counting calories which was a vital tool last school year in my weight loss. It’s really liberating and i feel so much less stressed about numbers and whatnot :) I’ve just been mindful of portions, concentrating on hydrating like a mofo, and trying to get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. Sometimes that just consists of walking, and i’m fine with that :) During the week it’s great because i do ballet on tuesdays and riding on wednesdays, which makes standard workouts less tedious because i’m not doing the same stuff day in and day out. Plus Ballet gives me things i can practice at home in front of my mirror :)

Upcoming events in the life of Lacey:
ZooSoc social where i get to dress up as a tiger. pics will be posted B)
Second ballet class
First non-team lesson ever at uni =[
Luke’s birthday!!! Will post pictures of (semi-healthy)cake :D
HOPEFULLY gym induction towards the end of next week (can’t wait to finally get in!)
Possible bike purchase in the weekend!! :)

yay! lots of exciting stuff going on :D
sorry for the extra long post! have a great weekend everyone :)

peace x
